Private Membership at Mountain Lake

Membership gives you much more than a seat at the table.

At Mountain Lake, the abundance of amenities, activities and recreational opportunities is as impressive as the scenery. Throughout the season our active members — and we do mean active — enjoy the use of all facilities including the Colony House, Pool House, Fitness Center and dining and recreational facilities. When you become a member, you are a part of the Mountain Lake community. You’re among friends. This is where you belong.

Mountain Lake

Resident Membership

Resident Membership is the backbone of the Mountain Lake experience and it unquestionably has its privileges, including use of the Colony House (the central gathering place in the community and host to a 34-room inn). Resident Members enjoy full access to the Pool House, Fitness Center, dining venues, and all recreational facilities including golf, tennis and croquet.

Candidates for Resident Membership must be sponsored by a current Mountain Lake Resident Member, seconded by a Resident Member, and supported by three other Resident Members. Final approval for Membership privileges and the right to purchase Mountain Lake Corporation stock is contingent on approval by the Admissions Committee.

Mountain Lake is owned by Mountain Lake Corporation and, upon acceptance and payment of fees (initiation fee, stock purchase, and dues), Resident Members become shareholders in Mountain Lake Corporation.

National Membership

National Membership affords all rights and privileges of Resident Membership with the exception of stock ownership and voting privileges. National Membership is by invitation and those approved enjoy the use of all facilities, including the Colony House, Pool House, Fitness Center, dining venues, and the full range of recreational options including golf, tennis and croquet. National Members may not own an interest in real property within a 100-mile radius of Mountain Lake, but may own a homesite within Mountain Lake. Upon completion of their home, National Members convert to Resident Members.

Candidates for National Membership must be sponsored by a current Resident or National Member, seconded by a current Resident or National Member, and supported by three other current Resident or National Members. Final approval for Membership privileges is contingent on approval by the Admissions Committee.

Non-Resident Membership

Non-Resident Membership is offered exclusively by invitation and, once approved, is renewable on an annual basis by Mountain Lake Corporation.

Non-Resident Members stay in the Colony House while visiting and enjoy the use of all facilities, including the Colony House, Pool House, Fitness Center, dining facilities, and recreational facilities including golf, tennis and croquet.

Non-Resident Membership is not available to those who own or have an interest in real property within the gates of the community or to persons who own, or have an interest in, real property within a 100-mile radius of Mountain Lake. To be eligible for Non-Resident Membership, an individual or couple must be sponsored by a current Resident or National Member or Non-Resident Member of at least two seasons. Candidates must be approved for Non-Resident privileges by the President and the Chair of the Admissions Committee.
